Thanksgiving Message

I hope that each of you will take a few moments on this Thanksgiving Day to take inventory and thank the Almighty God who created us all for the many blessings we all enjoy. My family has been richly blessed.  We have our health and strength, a warm comfortable home, enough to eat, the right to vote and thereby control our government when necessary.  Our children are doing well and those that are married have married well. We have two beautiful grandchildren and one more on the way. I am more than 50 years old and still have both my parents. I have a good stable job.

There are things that could be better. I need to have goals, something to strive for and to look forward to.  Not having everything is also a blessing.

The following is a proclamation issued by George Washington on our first national day of thanksgiving.

First National Thanksgiving Proclamation

Whereas, it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; Whereas, both the houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness!

Now therefore, I do recommend next, to be devoted by the people of the states to the service of that great and glorious being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be, that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country.

The United States Constitution – Preamble

The United States Constitution is perhaps the most remarkable document of its kind every written. The principles embodied within this document have provided the framework for the most free nation ever established. Those liberties have produced the greatest, wealth, technological development and discovery, and explosion of knowledge the world has ever known.

The Preamble to the United States Constitution reads:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Independance Day

Jay Leno demonstrates the effectiveness of American History education. He asks some very simple questions and these people have no clue.

One question he asks was: “What did Paul Revere say when he found out that the British were comming?” The gal could not answer the question.

Most people today have no clue why America is free. They don’t understand what makes freedom possible or how to keep it. Our future is not pretty.
