Literature

Of Abraham Lincoln, H. G. Wells once wrote "His opportunities for schooling were poor and casual. But his Mother taught him to read early, and he became a voracious Reader."  We know the rest.

Great men such as Abraham Lincoln and Benjamin Franklin were largely self taught. They had a thirst for knowledge, and they hungered for truth.  Once they learned how to read, there was no holding them back.

The task that remains before us is simple; teach children to read, even to love to read, then provide them with carefully selected reading materials.  The world's store of knowledge has accumulated in the written word.   Let's guide our children through a tour of THE BEST BOOKS

800 Titles

Note:  This is a very extensive list, hence, we only include the names of the authors for the fields of literature and philosophy.

The books that I use for text books appear at the beginning of this list.  Children’s literature follows, with American Literature, English Literature, and finally Philosophy comes at the end
